Job summary

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Missouri seeks a Compliance Inspector to ensure that child care facilities meet state and federal regulations at its Chesterfield location. You will interpret laws, perform inspections, and provide guidance to providers and the community.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Associate degree with relevant experience, or extensive experience in child care licensing/education.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in elementary/early education, sociology, psychology, child development, social work, or closely related field.
Associate’s Degree with 6 credits in related area and two+ years of professional or technical experience in elementary or early childhood education, social services for children, or child care provision.
Four or more years of professional or technical experience in child care licensing or early childhood education, with high school diploma or equivalency.

Responsibilities

Inspect child care facilities to ensure laws and regulations are met.
Interpret state laws and regulations.
Perform inspections/investigations to verify compliance at state and/or federal level.
Explain state laws and regulations to child care providers and stakeholders.
Provide technical assistance to child care providers, including informational meetings as needed.
Provide consultation on child development, behavior, and health services issues.
Demonstrate regular, reliable attendance.
