Job summary

Extreme Networks is seeking a Vice President of Engineering – Wireless to lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of our wireless portfolio, spanning access points, controllers, and cloud‑managed software with a focus on Agentic AI capabilities across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 12–15+ years of engineering experience in networking or wireless technology, with 8+ years in leadership roles.
• Deep knowledge of Wi‑Fi/WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be), RF engineering, and embedded networking.
• Proven track record shipping complex hardware/software at scale in a fast-paced market.
• Experience building and scaling distributed engineering teams, including offshore/nearshore centers.
• Strong understanding of cloud‑managed networking architectures and SaaS delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end engineering roadmap, architecture, and delivery for wireless hardware and software.
• Lead and grow a multi-disciplinary team across hardware, firmware, software, and RF engineering.
• Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to translate requirements into strategy.
• Drive engineering best practices with AI tooling, CI/CD, and security‑by‑design.
• Ensure compliance with FCC, CE, Wi‑Fi Alliance, and other certifications.
• Collaborate with wired networking, cloud, and AI teams for a cohesive platform experience.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and resource planning.
• Represent engineering in executive reviews, board updates, and briefings.
• Champion innovation in Wi‑Fi 8, Agentic AI, and private wireless convergence.
