Extreme Networks in San Jose, CA is seeking a Vice President of Engineering – Wireless to lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of our wireless portfolio, including access points, controllers, and cloud-managed software. This senior role guides a large, distributed team to deliver secure, high-performance wireless solutions for enterprise customers.

The ideal candidate combines deep 802.11 RF knowledge with proven leadership, executive communication, and a track record of shipping

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years of leadership experience in engineering management and shipping complex products.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end engineering roadmap, architecture, and delivery for wireless hardware and software portfolio.
• Lead and grow engineering directors, managers, and individual contributors across hardware, firmware, software, and RF/wireless systems.
• Partner with Product Management, Sales, and Customer Success to translate market requirements into technical strategy and product roadmaps.
• Drive best practices across SDLC, using AI tools to increase velocity and quality with agile delivery, CI/CD, QA, and security-by-design.
• Ensure the portfolio meets performance, scalability, reliability, and regulatory requirements (FCC, CE, Wi-Fi Alliance).
• Collaborate with wired networking, cloud platform, and AI teams to deliver a cohesive platform experience.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and resource planning to meet objectives.
• Represent engineering in exec reviews, board updates, and customer/analyst briefings.
