Job summary

Brunswick County is seeking a Chief Utility Plant Operator for the Northeast Brunswick Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in Leland, NC. You will oversee daily operations, ensure safety and compliance, and lead staff in process optimization and maintenance activities.

The role requires a technical diploma, 3–5 years of experience, NC Grade IV certification, and a valid driver’s license. On-call responsibilities and essential employment status apply.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical school diploma and 3–5 years of wastewater treatment plant operation experience or equivalent.
• Active North Carolina Grade IV Wastewater Operator Certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license required; supervisory/leadership experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control plant processes via SCADA and field inspections.
• Supervise and train plant staff.
• Conduct process control testing and maintain records.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and document operations.
• Assist with budget development, procurement, and project coordination.
• Serve as ORC for NW Brunswick Regional plant as needed.
