Job summary

Durham County Government is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Specialist III to lead senior-level, technical work at the Triangle Wastewater Treatment Plant. You will supervise daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior staff.

The role supports plant processes from influent to disinfection and sludge handling, with rotating shifts. Ideal candidates bring Five years in wastewater, two in a lead role, and a valid NC Driver’s license with Grade IV certification.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of wastewater treatment operations.
• Experience with SCADA, CMMS, and lab procedures.
• Leadership experience in a municipal or industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain records and reports for compliance.
• Operate wastewater treatment processes incl. pumping, treatment, disinfection, and sludge handling.
• Assist in inventory control and procurement.
• Schedule daily/weekly sampling for process control and compliance.
• Perform process testing and required reports.
• Provide training and mentorship to staff.
