Job summary

Brevard County Government’s Utility Services Department is seeking a Director to lead on-site operations in Viera, FL. The role directs water and wastewater operations, budgeting, and service standards, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality outcomes for the community.

The Director will guide teams, set performance metrics, coordinate across County departments, and drive initiatives to improve reliability and customer satisfaction while supporting growth and capital planning.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, business administration, or related field.
• Six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in utility engineering programs or projects.
• Three (3) years in the management of water and wastewater systems.
• Strong leadership, budgeting, and customer-service focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct, plan, and oversee all County water and wastewater operations, engineering, construction, and finance activities.
• Monitor system performance and respond to service issues to ensure reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Develop strategic plans, capital improvement recommendations, and policy/process enhancements.
• Lead, mentor, and train teams; coordinate cross-department collaboration with external agencies.
