Qualifications

• Seven years of experience in operating a commercial or institutional power plant or as a skilled craftsman in the mechanical or building trades.
• Requires completion of four years of high school.

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates all phases of the physical operations at the facility.
• Serves as working supervisor.
• Plans the overall operation and maintenance of the institutional heat plant, sewage system, water systems, buildings, grounds, equipment and machinery.
• Advises administration on major repairs, new construction and large equipment purchases.
• Prepares maintenance cost reports, requisitions, monthly and semi-annual reports.
• Reviews and prepares purchase requests for parts and supplies.
• Plans vocational training for individuals in custody assigned to maintenance.
