Job summary
Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain stationary engines, boilers and chillers to provide heat and cooling for campus facilities. The role reports to the Lead Stationary Engineer with Sunday-Thursday 3 pm-11:30 pm shifts.
Candidates must hold an Illinois Stationary Engineer license, have 2+ years HVAC experience, and possess a valid driver's license. EPA Universal Certification is strongly desired; MS Office skills are preferred.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Illinois Stationary Engineer license required.
- EPA Universal Certification strongly desired.
- 2+ years of HVAC equipment experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Monitor gauges and meters to verify boiler, chiller, and related equipment conditions.
- Read meters and logs and record operating data during shifts.
- Adjust controls or switch to backup systems as needed to maintain specs.
- Inspect equipment for malfunctions and perform lubrication or repairs.
- Overhaul pumps and boiler components as required.
- Operate and troubleshoot BAS systems and controls.
- Follow safety standards and maintain clean, safe work areas.
