Job summary

Albers Aerospace in McKinney, TX is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer – Sensors to lead architecture, design, development, integration, qualification, and production transition of advanced sensor systems for aerospace and defense applications.

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, own system requirements, and guide prototypes through qualification and production, balancing performance, schedule, cost, and risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, RF Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 12+ years engineering experience with leadership of complex sensor or electronic systems.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through production/qualification.
• Breadth across EO/IR, LRF/LiDAR, RF, radar sensing technologies.
• Strong analog/digital electronics background; low-noise design and interfaces.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Chief Engineer / technical authority for sensor development programs, maintaining technical ownership from concept through production transition.
• Develop and own sensor system architectures, requirements, interfaces, performance budgets, and technical baselines.
• Lead design and development of sensing systems including IR/EO, LRF/LiDAR, RF, radar.
• Provide hands-on technical support during prototype development, laboratory testing, and system integration.
• Lead technical reviews, design reviews, root cause investigations, and corrective-action efforts.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across multidisciplinary teams.
