Job summary

Pivotal Health, a fast-growing AI-native healthcare technology company, is seeking a Head of Security to own the security program from the ground up. You’ll partner with engineering, compliance, and leadership to embed security across the organization and protect sensitive provider data.

This role blends strategy and hands-on execution: define security strategy, lead SOC 2 and HIPAA readiness, oversee risk, audits, and customer trust, and advocate for secure-by-design across cloud, CI/CD, and

Qualifications

• 8+ years of security experience, with both technical and program-level strategy
• Deep knowledge of cloud, infrastructure, and application security fundamentals
• Experience maturing a security program at a high-growth company
• Hands-on experience with SOC 2, HIPAA or similar compliance programs
• Ability to communicate complex security topics to customers, auditors, and partners
• Collaborative influencer who can align multiple functions
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and building from scratch
• Knowledge of current threat landscape and security tooling

Responsibilities

• Build and own Pivotal's security program
• Define strategy, policies, processes, and roadmap for security posture
• Partner with engineering to embed security into the platform
• Ensure security is built into cloud architecture, CI/CD, data access controls, and integrations
• Lead compliance and regulatory readiness (SOC 2, HIPAA) and manage audits
• Monitor evolving threat landscape and adapt defenses
• Represent security to customers, partners, and stakeholders
• Foster security awareness across the organization
• Develop guidelines for emerging technologies, including AI/LLMs security
