Job summary

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center seeks a senior leader to plan, develop, and coordinate environmental health and safety services across the campus. You will provide technical guidance, training, inspections, and risk analysis to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital safety.

You will lead all campus safety activities, oversee incident investigations, manage budgets and staffing for the EHS Department, coordinate with Infection Control, and serve as liaison with university

Qualifications

• Master's degree in environmental safety or closely related field plus five years of experience.
• Safety experience in health care is required.
• CIH, Certified Safety Professional, CHSP or CHEM certification required.

Responsibilities

• Develops goals and objectives for safety/emergency functions and activities; advises leadership and staff on Health/Safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Develops and revises safety plans; communicates plans and monitors progress, reporting compliance.
• Leads environment of care inspection process and reports findings to Safety Committee; develops action plans as needed.
• Responds to employee safety/health concerns and investigates incident reports; provides recommendations to improve safety.
• Oversees regulatory compliance (JC, NRC, NFPA, MOSH, OSHA, NIOSH) and reporting requirements.
• Directs campus-wide safety inspections and risk analyses for facilities, labs, and construction sites.
• Collaborates with Infection Control for risk assessments and documentation.
• Manages EH&S Department budget, staffing, and grant administration.
• Directs safety training programs (online and classroom).
• Chairs Green Team and liaises with external groups; coordinates emergency operations and Snow Team activities.
