Job summary

Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is seeking a Chief Program Officer to provide integrated leadership across BEF's water, carbon, and energy programs. The CPO will drive performance, growth, and partnerships to expand impact, including data center stewardship and Tribal priorities, reporting to the CEO and collaborating with the CFO and Chief of Staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership in environmental/nonprofit/ESG sectors, with senior/executive experience.
• Proven track record managing multi-program portfolios and leading high-performing teams.
• Strong program design, performance measurement, and continuous improvement skills.
• Experience in business development, client relationship management, or market expansion in a mission-driven context.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight and cohesion across BEF's water, carbon, and energy programs, aligning with mission and priorities.
• Lead Program Directors and Senior Directors, setting standards for quality, staff development, and cross-team collaboration.
• Ensure sustained program performance and translate results into actionable guidance for teams and leadership.
• Identify and resolve barriers to program effectiveness, growth, and impact.
• Develop and maintain a rigorous framework for program metrics and impact measurement.
• Partner with CFO to align budgets with priorities and ensure financial sustainability.
• Represent BEF in industry and community forums to advance water, energy, and stewardship leadership.
