Job summary

Leadenhall Search & Selection is seeking a senior Privacy & Data Protection leader to own the global privacy programme. This high-visibility role reports to senior leadership, with potential to operate at Chief Privacy Officer level.

You will lead cross-functional teams across Product, Technology, Data and Security, develop practical privacy frameworks, and advise on GDPR/UK GDPR and US privacy laws to align data use with business goals.

Qualifications

• J.D. or equivalent with active U.S. state bar.
• 15+ years in privacy and regulatory matters.
• Experience leading privacy programs in data-controller orgs.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR/UK GDPR and U.S. privacy laws.
• Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Data and Security teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the organisation's global privacy and data protection programme.
• Provide strategic and practical advice on privacy, data protection and the use of personal and sensitive data.
• Advise on data collection, use, sharing, retention and governance, particularly where the organisation acts as a data controller.
• Advise Product, Technology, Data and Security teams on privacy throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop practical privacy frameworks, policies and processes aligned with business objectives.
• Advise senior leadership on GDPR, UK GDPR, U.S. privacy laws and emerging global requirements.
• Oversee privacy risk assessments, privacy-by-design initiatives and regulatory engagement where required.
• Build privacy awareness and accountability across the organisation.

A high-growth technology business is seeking a senior Privacy & Data Protection leader to take ownership of its global privacy programme. The role will combine deep legal expertise with a strong understanding of data, its commercial use and the regulatory framework governing it.

This is a highly visible role with exposure to senior leadership and the potential to operate at Chief Privacy Officer level.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the organisation's global privacy and data protection programme.
• Provide strategic and practical advice on privacy, data protection and the use of personal and sensitive data.
• Advise on data collection, use, sharing, retention and governance, particularly where the organisation acts as a data controller.
• Advise Product, Technology, Data, Security and Commercial teams on privacy throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop practical privacy frameworks, policies and processes aligned with business objectives.
• Advise senior leadership on GDPR, UK GDPR, U.S. privacy laws and emerging global requirements.
• Oversee privacy risk assessments, privacy-by-design initiatives and regulatory engagement where required.

Ideal Background:

• J.D. or equivalent legal qualification with active U.S. state bar membership.
• 15+ years' experience across privacy, data protection and related regulatory matters.
• Significant experience leading privacy programmes within data-controller organisations.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR/UK GDPR and U.S. privacy legislation.
• A strong understanding of data and its commercial use, with the ability to advise on how data can be used responsibly and within applicable regulations.
• Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Data and Security teams.
• Ideally, experience within a data-intensive technology, identity, fraud, fintech, cybersecurity or similarly regulated environment.
• Strong commercial judgement and executive-level communication skills.
• Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to privacy and data governance.
