Job summary

Taylor Root is seeking a Privacy & Product Counsel for a high-growth AI company. You will build and lead the privacy program, advising on product, commercial, and regulatory matters across the US, UK, and Europe.

The role requires 5-8 years PQE with strong privacy and commercial/product counselling experience, deep knowledge of US/UK/EU privacy laws, and the ability to work across leadership, product, engineering and sales in a fast-paced environment.

Our client is a high-growth AI company that helps businesses make smarter decisions through advanced data and automation. As the business continues to scale globally, they are seeking a Privacy & Product Counsel to become the first dedicated privacy lawyer within the organisation.

Working closely with leadership, product, engineering and commercial teams, you will build and lead the company's privacy programme while advising on a broad range of product, commercial and regulatory matters across the US, UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the company's global privacy programme, including data governance, retention and vendor management.
• Advise on privacy-by-design and AI product development.
• Support compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and evolving AI regulation.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, DPAs and security-related documentation.
• Partner with customers on privacy, security and data governance matters.
• Provide practical legal support across a range of business-critical issues.

Candidate Profile

• 5-8 years' PQE with strong privacy and commercial/product counselling experience.
• Deep knowledge of US, UK and EU privacy laws.
• Experience supporting technology, software, AI or data-driven businesses.
• Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
