Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a Chief Human Resources Officer to lead the Office of Human Resources, directing strategy across employee relations, talent management, and compliance to advance equity and student and staff success.

The role requires extensive experience in HR leadership within education, strong policy acumen, and proven ability to align resources with strategic priorities; the position reports to the Superintendent and serves on the cabinet.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in business or public administration, human resources management, labor relations, law, or a related field.
  • 10+ years relevant HR leadership experience in a school system.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, ADA and Title IX.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of priorities for the Office of Human Resources, aligning with AACPS Strategic Plan and policies.
  • Provides executive leadership for workforce strategy including recruitment, hiring, retention, engagement, planning, and licensure.
  • Oversees payroll, benefits, records management, HRIS, and data integrity to support staff and operations.
  • Directs employee relations, including contract interpretation, grievances, and investigations with equity and fair procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with EEOC, ADA, Title IX, COMAR, and related reporting requirements.
