Job summary

Los Angeles Opera seeks a Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations to lead all HR, culture, and union partnerships. You will report to the CEO and guide compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, and workforce planning for a diverse, multi‑segment workforce.

The role demands strategic leadership, strong negotiation skills, and a commitment to EDIB excellence within a major nonprofit performing arts organization in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years in human resources and labor relations leadership, preferably in unionized settings.
• Strong experience advising executive leadership and board on people strategy.
• Proven ability to manage compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, and organizational development.

Responsibilities

• Advise President/CEO and Board on human capital, culture, and workplace policy.
• Lead EDIB strategies to improve belonging and employee engagement.
• Oversee labor relations across multiple collective bargaining agreements and negotiate with unions.
• Direct HR programs, including compensation, benefits, recruiting, and HRIS governance.
• Ensure California-specific employment law compliance and risk management.
