Job summary

LA Opera invites a strategic, collaborative leader to serve as Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations. The role oversees HR, compensation and benefits, EDIB, talent acquisition, and labor strategy for a major nonprofit performing arts organization in Los Angeles.

Reporting to the President and CEO, you will lead across nine CBAs, guide executive counsel, and partner with the board to align people initiatives with artistic and financial goals while upholding California employment

Qualifications

• Ten years of leadership experience in HR and labor relations, especially in unionized environments.
• Experience as chief spokesperson in collective bargaining and labor-management partnerships.
• Fluency with federal and state employment laws and labor regulations.

Responsibilities

• Advise the President & CEO and Board on human capital, organizational efficacy, and workplace culture.
• Lead labor relations across nine collective bargaining agreements and negotiate with unions.
• Direct compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, and organizational development.
• Oversee HRIS, data governance, and internal communications.
• Ensure compliance with California employment laws and risk management.
