Job summary

Penn Medicine Orthopaedics seeks a Chief Operating Officer to lead the department’s clinical, research and educational missions. Based onsite at 3737 Market Street, Philadelphia, the COO will partner with the Chair, Executive Director and senior leaders to translate strategy into execution across the system.

The ideal candidate has a track record in administrative and financial leadership within academic medicine, with expertise in clinical operations, recruitment, and program development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (required) in Healthcare, Business Administration or related field.

Responsibilities

• Translate the Chair’s vision into department-wide execution.
• Lead clinical, financial, and administrative missions within the department.
• Improve patient access, capacity utilization, and patient experience across ambulatory, procedural and hospital-based services.
• Oversee the department’s operating budget and space planning.
• Drive research portfolio growth and sponsorship program administration.
• Partner with the Chair and senior leadership to advance Penn Medicine’s goals.
