Job summary

RuralMetro Fire seeks a Battalion Chief of Training to oversee the department’s training program and employee career development. You will design, administer and deliver all necessary training, coordinate exams, and manage instructors and resources.

The role requires NFPA Instructor II, Officer II or higher, and 10+ years in fire/EMS with strong leadership and budget skills. Expect active participation in regional training activities and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• NFPA Fire Instructor II certification.
• NFPA Fire Officer II or higher.
• Arizona EMT and/or Paramedic or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Operations-level training in technical rescue disciplines.
• Minimum 10 years of active all-hazard service delivery experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent public speaking skills.
• Arizona Driver’s License with minimal restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and coordinate training programs across the department.
• Develop and update training schedules and exams.
• Ensure compliance with SOGs and policies.
• Oversee training budget, resources and registration logistics.
• Act as lead instructor during drills and provide QA follow-up.
• Collaborate with regional partners for professional development.
• Maintain training records and certifications for staff.
