Job summary

Baltimore County is seeking an experienced Assistant County Attorney III, Chief of Claims, to oversee preparation and trial of court cases for the County government. The role supervises legal, paraprofessional and office staff under the direction of the Deputy County Attorney.

This Non-Merit vacancy requires admission to the Maryland Bar, a law degree, and substantial trial or transactional experience with supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Admittance to the Maryland Bar and a JD from an ABA-accredited school.
• Extensive trial or transactional experience with supervisory duties.

Responsibilities

• Supervises liability and workers' compensation claims against the Self Insurance Fund.
• Reviews settlements and denials within authority and ensures standards.
• Oversees preparation of claims for litigation and assists with investigations.
• Advises on risk exposure, property hazards and county operations.
• Prepares complex legal documents and represents the County in hearings.
