Job summary

The University of California, Office of the President, Systemwide Labor Relations seeks a Labor Relations Representative 5. This high-visibility role leads systemwide negotiations and serves as the primary spokesperson for bargaining across key agreements.

The position is primarily remote within California, with required in-person attendance at SWLR meetings and travel to bargaining sessions as needed. A deep background in public labor relations and HEERA is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in labor relations, human resources, labor and employment law or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a large, complex organization, the public sector, higher education and/or healthcare with direct experience as a chief negotiator.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience drafting collective-bargaining proposals, contract language, and letters of understanding.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience administering labor grievance and arbitration procedures, including dispute resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead systemwide collective bargaining negotiations as the University’s lead spokesperson and bargaining team lead.
• Implement and administer collective bargaining agreements to ensure alignment with University objectives and HEERA.
• Collaborate with UCOP divisions and external partners to advance labor relations objectives.
• Address high-stakes issues, manage risk, and communicate with leadership during impasse, strikes, and disputes.
