Job summary

Mackinnon Bruce International is seeking a lead mechanical engineer to spearhead mining and material handling projects from concept to completion. You will design conveyors, perform analyses, and develop EWPs and documentation to meet safety standards and budgets.

You will review vendor proposals, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and guide project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates while ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 7 years of engineering experience including lead or supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years of engineering experience including lead or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices and standards.
• Experience managing complex engineering projects.
• Ability to analyze technically complex information and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, engineering hazards and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design and project execution activities for mining and material handling projects.
• Complete engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Design, evaluate and optimize conveyor and bulk material handling systems, including belts, idlers, pulleys, drives, take-ups, crushers, feeders and chutes.
• Perform conveyor sizing, capacity, throughput and performance analysis.
• Model bulk material flow and evaluate system performance using appropriate engineering software.
• Review vendor proposals, equipment selections and engineering designs for compliance with company standards, codes and regulations.
• Develop engineering deliverables including PIDs, PFDs, equipment datasheets, BOMs and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
• Develop and contribute to project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans and cost estimates.
• Participate in multidisciplinary project meetings and coordinate engineering solutions across project teams.
• Support construction and commissioning activities and help resolve technical issues.
• Conduct design reviews and maintain accurate engineering records throughout the project lifecycle.
• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering and project teams.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring
