Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is seeking its first General Counsel to lead the legal function, reporting to the CEO and serving as the board's trusted advisor. You will build scalable governance, support growth, and manage enterprise risk in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

The SVP, General Counsel will guide strategy, lead major transactions, supervise outside counsel, and partner with HR on executive agreements and policy reviews across the organization.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Arizona or eligible for AZ In-House registration.
• Typically 12+ years of progressive legal experience.
• Experience advising senior leadership on complex matters.
• Proven track record in negotiating complex commercial agreements and leading transactions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal legal advisor to the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board on strategic matters.
• Develop and lead the Company's legal strategy, governance, and risk management.
• Build and scale the legal function, templates, policies, and processes.
• Lead negotiation/review of major commercial agreements and partnerships.
• Establish enterprise contract governance and approval workflows.
• Oversee corporate governance, entity management, ethics, and litigation strategy.
• Manage budgets and outside counsel and support M&A activity and integration.
