Job summary

The Director, Infrastructure at Baltimore City leads the reliability, security, and performance of the city’s enterprise technology, overseeing data centers, network, cloud, Service Desk, storage, and email services. The role drives the hybrid cloud strategy and ensures 24/7 operations.

You’ll partner with the CISO, manage budgets and vendor contracts, and lead cross‑functional teams to build a resilient, cost‑effective technology foundation citywide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred.
• Microsoft/MCSA/MCP-type certifications listed or equivalent are a plus: MCSE, CCNA, CISSP, AWS Solutions Architect, or Azure Administrator.
• Prior IT experience in a government environment is strongly preferred.
• Equivalency Notes: an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead supervisory functions: recruiting, hiring, staffing plans, performance management, training, conflict resolution.
• Represent BCIT to senior leadership, delivering regular updates on infrastructure performance and projects.
• Drive 24/7 reliability via monitoring, backups, patches, and OS upgrades across platforms.
• Develop infrastructure roadmaps and hybrid cloud strategies aligned with city needs.
• Manage procurement, contracts, SLAs, and vendor relationships.
