Job summary

TAR, a hardware and software infrastructure company, seeks a Head of Interconnection & Transmission in Austin to own, monetize, and scale interconnection for data-center campuses including a flagship West Texas site. You will manage end-to-end interconnection, market participation, and export strategy with the co-founders, traveling to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in ERCOT interconnection, transmission, or wholesale market operations.
• Deep ERCOT fluency: nodal market design, Planning Guide and Protocols, and PUCT processes.
• Strong relationships across ERCOT staff, TSPs, QSEs, and the PUCT.
• Commercial instinct: ability to build revenue models, not just run studies.
• Storage market participation experience, including ESR registration, preferred.
• Fast and lean operator, capable of starting with minimal structure and scaling the team.

Responsibilities

• Run ERCOT generation interconnection end to end from queue entry to commercial operations.
• Lead POI selection and gen-tie development including routing, easements, and permitting.
• Define export architecture with the power systems team to ensure islanded operations.
• Drive ERCOT market entry, including registration and management of market entities.
• Develop monetization strategy across export scheduling, storage arbitrage, and ancillary services.
• Own economics of curtailment and decide per site with a built model.
• Engage PUCT and ERCOT processes to shape rulemakings for co-located generation.
• Create repeatable interconnection playbook for future campuses.
