Job summary

Charles Drew Health Centers seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead philanthropy, grants administration and external relations. You will develop revenue strategies, oversee donor pipelines, and coordinate public relations to strengthen CDHC’s visibility and mission impact.

The CDO will work with the CEO, boards and program teams to align funding with strategic priorities, manage grant programs, and ensure compliance while advancing health equity and access to care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's in nonprofit mgmt, public administration, business, healthcare administration, communications or related field preferred.
• Proven success securing and managing diverse public and private funding.
• Experience with HRSA/BPHC Health Center Program funding and EHBs preferred.
• Excellent grant writing and persuasive communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and influence outcomes without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual and multiyear development strategy aligned with CDHC priorities and financial sustainability.
• Lead donor development, proposals, budgeting, reporting and stewardship.
• Oversee grants lifecycle from prospecting to closeout, including HRSA/EHB submissions.
• Manage brand, PR, digital content and external communications; act as spokesperson when needed.
• Build relationships with funders, partners and government agencies to expand funding.
