Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks an accomplished clinical and administrative leader to serve as Assistant Commissioner for Forensic Services. This role oversees court-ordered evaluations, competency restoration, and forensic programs for adults and juveniles, managing clinicians and contracted evaluators statewide.

The position requires licensure in psychology or medicine or LICSW, with extensive managerial and budgetary experience in forensic mental health, and collaboration with DMH, DOC,

Qualifications

• Seven years of professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in a specialized field, with current licensure/registration.
• At least four years in a managerial capacity.
• Independent licensure or eligibility in psychology, medicine, or social work as required.
• Knowledge of forensic mental health services and legal system beneficial.
• Experience supervising clinicians and contracted providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee statewide forensic mental health services to courts and correctional settings, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and legal requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies for court-ordered evaluations, competency restoration, and forensic assessment.
• Lead training, certification, and performance oversight of evaluators and clinicians, including contractors.
• Develop diversion programs in collaboration with law enforcement and public safety partners.
• Coordinate with the Trial Court and other agencies to ensure continuity of care and effective services.
• Provide clinical guidance to senior leadership on policy, capacity, and resource needs.
