Job summary

PPL Project for Pride in Living, Inc. seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, IT, and data initiatives as a member of the executive team. This in-person role is based in Minnesota and directs budgeting, forecasting, and performance management to advance mission-driven outcomes.

The CFO collaborates with the CEO and Board to align resources, strengthen controls, and optimize funding and operations for long-term sustainability. A senior nonprofit background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, urban planning, finance, economics, or related field.
  • Experience in nonprofit, public sector, healthcare, education, housing, or other complex mission-driven organizations preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience including 5+ years in an executive or senior finance role.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic executive leader responsible for financial management, information technology, and enterprise data strategy. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the CFO leads financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational performance management while providing insights that support strategic decision-making and long-term sustainability. As a member of the Executive Team, the CFO partners with the Board of Directors and senior leaders to optimize resources, strengthen systems and controls, and advance organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Executive Leadership and Strategic Partnership
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Team and strategic thought partner to the President and CEO
  • Partner with the President and CEO and Board of Directors to align organizational resources with PPL’s mission, vision, strategic priorities, and financial goals
  • Provide strategic business analysis and recommendations to support organizational planning, decision-making, and long-term sustainability
Financial Strategy, Planning, and Performance
  • Lead the organization’s financial strategy and operations, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial performance, and affordable housing/real‑estate development activities
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and strengthen financial systems, controls, and reporting to ensure long-term sustainability and mission success
Information Technology and Enterprise Data Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Information Technology and Enterprise Data Management functions
  • Ensure technology and data strategies support organizational effectiveness, innovation, operational excellence, and strategic goals
Governance, Risk & Stakeholder Management
  • Build trusted relationships with Board members, financial institutions, auditors, community stakeholders, and funding partners
  • Serve as lead staff to the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board, providing strategic financial insights, facilitating effective governance
  • Represent PPL with external stakeholders and strategic partners, including financial institutions, public and private funding partners, policymakers, and community organizations
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience including 5+ years in an executive or senior finance role with a complex organization
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and utilize data to improve outcomes and inform decision-making
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration, public policy, urban planning, finance, economics, or related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit, public sector, healthcare, education, housing, or other complex mission-driven organizations preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has multiple direct reports including but not limited to Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Controller, Director of Information Technology.

Work Environment

This is a fully in-person position requiring onsite attendance five (5) days per week to support team collaboration, community engagement activities, and outreach operations. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support outreach events, information sessions, and other departmental activities.

Competitive Pay
  • $190,000-$220,000 annually DOQ/Exempt
  • Full-time M-F 830AM-430PM
