Job summary

FinStrat Management, Inc. is seeking a client-facing Chief Financial Officer to lead virtual CFO engagements for a portfolio of software clients.

You will help scale businesses by implementing best practices, controls, and data-driven decision making across planning, budgeting, forecasting, and closing processes. The role requires 10+ years in finance leadership in SaaS or software, with deep knowledge of revenue recognition, SaaS metrics, and fundraising.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of financial leadership, preferably as CFO or VP of Finance in a growing SaaS/ software company.
• Strong understanding of software revenue recognition, SaaS metrics and related practices.
• Experience leading fundraising efforts to support growth and scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead FSM client engagements as a virtual Chief Financial Officer.
• Provide growth strategy insights and financial implications of major decisions.
• Implement controls, frameworks, and systems for timely data and forecasting.
• Analyze client financials, profits, trends, and budget adherence.
• Present insights with narrative on results, variances, and key metrics.
• Oversee financing, acquisitions, facilities, and partnerships.
• Manage cash, debt facilities, and liquidity for client growth.
• Collaborate with CROs and sales on contracts and processes.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and oversee stock option and benefit plans.
• Direct FSM staff on client engagements and ensure quality deliverables.

The Role FinStrat Management (“FSM”) is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a client-facing Chief Financial Officer. This is a great opportunity to build a team, implement best practices, and help scale both our company and our clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage FSM client engagements as a virtual Chief Financial Officer
• Provide insight and recommendations related to clients’ growth strategy, as well as input regarding the financial implications of major business decisions
• Implement controls, frameworks, policies and systems that capture and utilize timely and accurate data across clients’ business, as well as financial planning, budgets, forecasting and closing processes
• Analyze clients’ financial results with respect to profits, trends, cost and compliance with budgets
• Present and provide insight on financial results with a narrative on results, variances to plan, trends, and key metrics
• Provide leadership in the execution of financial transactions, including financing, acquisitions, facilities, and partnerships
• Manage cash utilization, and debt facilitates to maintain a strong foundation of liquidity for clients’ growth
• Collaborate with clients’ CRO and sales team on contracts and contract processes
• Serve as a liaison between clients and their outside legal counsel
• Oversee clients’ stock option, commission, and benefit plans
• Direct and support FSM staff assigned to client engagements
• Ensure deliverables meet FSM’s quality standard
• Provide five-star client service

Job Requirements

• ~10+ years of financial experience with recent experience as CFO or VP of Finance at a growing SaaS or software company
• ~ Solid understanding of software revenue recognition, SaaS metrics, and associated best practices
• ~ Success implementing and optimizing process, procedures, and infrastructure to enable scale and support growth (organic and inorganic)
• ~ Experience in leading fundraising efforts, ideally at a growth stage company
