Job summary

FinStrat Management, Inc. seeks a client-facing Chief Financial Officer to lead finance for FSM and its clients, build a team, implement best practices, and scale the business.

The role centers on strategic financial leadership, revenue recognition for SaaS, fundraising, controls, and partnering with CROs and executives to drive growth while ensuring disciplined execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 10+ years of financial leadership with CFO/VP Finance experience in a growing SaaS or software company.
• CPA preferred but not required; company will reimburse exam costs after successful completion.
• Experience with software revenue recognition, SaaS metrics, and related best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead FSM client engagements as a virtual Chief Financial Officer.
• Provide strategic insights on growth, and financial implications of major business decisions.
• Implement controls, policies, and systems for timely, accurate data and financial planning across clients.
• Analyze client financial results against budgets; report variances and trends.
• Drive financial transactions, including financing, acquisitions, and partnerships.
• Manage cash utilization and liquidity for client growth.
• Collaborate with clients’ CRO and sales on contracts and processes.
• Liaise with outside counsel and oversee stock option, commissions, and benefits plans.
• Direct FSM staff on client engagements and ensure quality deliverables.
• Deliver five-star client service and maintain high standards.

The Role FinStrat Management (“FSM”) is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a client-facing Chief Financial Officer. This is a great opportunity to build a team, implement best practices, and help scale both our company and our clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage FSM client engagements as a virtual Chief Financial Officer
• Provide insight and recommendations related to clients’ growth strategy, as well as input regarding the financial implications of major business decisions
• Implement controls, frameworks, policies and systems that capture and utilize timely and accurate data across clients’ business, as well as financial planning, budgets, forecasting and closing processes
• Analyze clients’ financial results with respect to profits, trends, cost and compliance with budgets
• Present and provide insight on financial results with a narrative on results, variances to plan, trends, and key metrics
• Provide leadership in the execution of financial transactions, including financing, acquisitions, facilities, and partnerships
• Manage cash utilization, and debt facilitates to maintain a strong foundation of liquidity for clients’ growth
• Collaborate with clients’ CRO and sales team on contracts and contract processes
• Serve as a liaison between clients and their outside legal counsel
• Oversee clients’ stock option, commission, and benefit plans
• Direct and support FSM staff assigned to client engagements
• Ensure deliverables meet FSM’s quality standard
• Provide five-star client service

Job Requirements

Professional background

• 10+ years of financial experience with recent experience as CFO or VP of Finance at a growing SaaS or software company
• Solid understanding of software revenue recognition, SaaS metrics, and associated best practices
• Success implementing and optimizing process, procedures, and infrastructure to enable scale and support growth (organic and inorganic)
• Experience in leading fundraising efforts, ideally at a growth stage company
