BRICK EXECUTIVE SEARCH has been exclusively retained on a critical search for an experienced CFO. Our client has experienced significant growth. It is a well-established, mid-size company with 35 brick-and-mortar stores and a robust e-commerce business.
Position summary
We're seeking a hands-on seasoned CFO who can act as a strategic partner to our client's senior leadership team. You'll be responsible for planning and managing the organization's financial strategy, performing risk management, and ensuring sustainable growth. This is a critical role overseeing all financial aspects—from day-to-day accounting to broad investment and banking operations. Your leadership will help protect and enhance the company's revenues and profits while ensuring stability, growth, and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy, Planning, and Management
- Serve as a strategic business partner to the senior executive leadership team.
- Evaluate financial performance in relation to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
- Provide insights and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth plans.
- Establish yearly financial objectives that align with our company's growth plans.
- Select and engage consultants, auditors, and investors as needed.
- Recruit and manage finance, accounting, and payroll staff.
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive leadership team.
- Implement policies and procedures as appropriate.
Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting- Prepare and present monthly financial reports accurately and timely, including profit and loss statements, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
- Analyze financial results and offer recommendations.
- Lead analysis of business initiatives, product launches, and new service offerings.
- Develop and maintain operating budgets.
- Oversee the financial planning and analysis department.
Accounting, Administration, and Operations- Supervise the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems.
- Ensure the application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of financial statements.
- Ensure timely filing of all tax returns.
- Oversee month-end close processes and continuously improve procedures.
- Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems and controls.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate audits.
- Manage cash flow and ensure funds availability.
- Optimize cash, investments, and asset management.
- Explore investment opportunities and provide recommendations.
- Maintain relationships with banks and financial partners.
- Use forward-looking models to provide financial insights into plans and budgets.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Financial Relations and Policies- Work with the senior leadership team to develop plans and budgets.
- Represent the company to financial partners, investors, and auditors.
- Stay current on audit best practices and laws regarding company operations.
Team Management- Actively engage in daily financial operations, leading by example within the team.
- Assess and support current team members to enhance their skills and performance, and accountability.
- Manage an efficient finance team to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Retain valuable staff and strengthen the team as needed to meet company objectives.
Cash Management- Oversee weekly cash management and Accounts Payable.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable and provide guidance on collection processes.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting or finance experience.
- Experience in public accounting and consulting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge in taxes, external auditors, internal controls, and compliance issues.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law, risk management, GAAP, and compliance.
- Excellent data analysis and forecasting skills.
- Proficiency with financial management software (ERP / NetSuite).
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with an aptitude for numbers.
