The Opportunity

Opti Staffing Group is partnering with an established Alaska-based healthcare organization in the search for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

This is an opportunity for a financial leader who brings more to the table than reporting and spreadsheets. Our client is looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking executive who can translate complex financial information into meaningful business decisions while maintaining direct oversight of the organization's accounting operations.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance, strengthening financial performance, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial operations.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable advising executive leadership on long-term financial strategy and rolling up their sleeves to address accounting, operational, and revenue cycle challenges.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Financial Strategy
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor and strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and long-term financial strategy.
  • Provide actionable financial analysis to support operational decisions, organizational initiatives, and investments.
  • Present financial performance, trends, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Partner across departments to strengthen financial accountability and operational performance.
Accounting Operations & Financial Oversight
  • Maintain full oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, and financial statement accuracy.
  • Lead general ledger management, financial close processes, internal controls, and GAAP compliance.
  • Direct annual financial audits, coordinate with external auditors, and maintain year-round audit readiness.
  • Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, reporting systems, and financial workflows.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiency.
Healthcare Finance & Revenue Cycle Management
  • Provide financial leadership over healthcare reimbursement and revenue cycle performance.
  • Monitor payer trends, denials, underpayments, accounts receivable, collections, and bad debt.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and billing leadership to improve charge capture, documentation, billing accuracy, and reimbursement.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer reimbursement trends.
  • Provide financial oversight of third-party billing and revenue cycle partners.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, responsive, and solutions-oriented finance department.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization, ensuring Finance operates as a strategic business partner.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, including oversight of financial reporting and accounting operations.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with executive and operational leadership.
  • Strong Controller-level expertise, including general ledger oversight, financial close, GAAP, reconciliations, internal controls, financial statements, and external audits.
  • Healthcare finance experience, including a strong understanding of revenue cycle management, reimbursement, collections, and bad debt.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cash-flow planning, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting external audits and presenting financial information to executive leadership and/or Boards.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CMA designation.
  • Experience within air ambulance, emergency medical services, healthcare transportation, hospital finance, or related healthcare environments.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer reimbursement, and healthcare billing practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a remote or geographically dispersed organization.
What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a CFO who understands that successful financial leadership requires both technical expertise and strong relationships.

This individual should be comfortable challenging assumptions, asking thoughtful questions, identifying opportunities, and working directly with operational leaders to drive meaningful improvements.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Strategic in their thinking and hands-on in their execution.
  • Confident in their financial expertise without operating in a silo.
  • Experienced in healthcare finance and revenue cycle performance.
  • Detail-oriented, accountable, and comfortable owning the Controller function.
  • Collaborative, approachable, and effective at communicating across all levels of an organization.
