Job summary

IDC Executive Search / Energy Only is seeking an accomplished President to lead a community solar business, directing strategy, growth, project development, operations, and financial performance. The role reports to the Board and partners and requires building a disciplined, accountable organization.

The ideal candidate will excel in setting strategic direction, developing people, advancing projects, and ensuring safe, reliable asset performance with strong returns.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in solar or related power sector.
• Deep understanding of the full project lifecycle: origination, development, permitting, interconnection, financing, construction, operations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive high performance.
• Experience managing financial performance, budgets, and capital allocation.
• Strong commercial judgment evaluating economics, contracts, partnerships, and risks.
• Experience working with Boards, investors, lenders, and other senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, engineering, finance, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a growth strategy aligned with Board objectives for growth and value creation.
• Oversee development, construction, operations, and asset performance across the portfolio.
• Lead capital planning, budgeting, and cash management with investment partners.
• Guide negotiations with landowners, utilities, and development partners; ensure timely milestones.
• Build a high-performing leadership team and a disciplined, collaborative organization.
• Represent the business with investors, lenders, utilities, and community stakeholders.
