About This Role

As the next CEO, you will have the opportunity to continue the strong legacy of Dwelling Place in the community while also building its future as one of the region\'s most impactful housing organizations. Working closely with an engaged Board of Directors, a dedicated leadership team, and a group of passionate employees, you will advance our mission by applying a Civic Vision that is deeply rooted in Urbanist Principles, ensuring these frameworks drive our strategic growth, and ensuring long-term organizational sustainability. In this role you will:

  • First and foremost, champion the mission and values of Dwelling Place by providing visionary leadership that advances affordable housing and strengthens the communities we serve.
  • Bring 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit, housing, real estate, community development or business, along with a bachelor\'s degree in a related field. Years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Lead the execution of the organization\'s strategic plan prioritizing organizational stability and financial health as the foundation for sustainable growth, innovation, and community impact.
  • Partner closely with the Board of Directors to establish strategic priorities, ensure strong governance, and provide transparent communication regarding organizational performance.
  • Inspire, develop, and support a high-performing executive leadership team while fostering a culture rooted in trust, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Have skill in navigating local community & political dynamics while serving as the organization\'s primary ambassador building meaningful relationships with residents, community leaders, elected officials, donors, investors, lenders, and strategic partners.
  • Ensure long-term financial sustainability through sound fiscal management, strategic budgeting, diversified funding strategies, and effective stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Oversee the planning, acquisition, development, and management of real estate initiatives that further the organization\'s mission and long-term vision.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and governance requirements while maintaining strong organizational systems and effective risk management practices.
  • Analyze market trends, housing needs, and community opportunities while also navigating the evolving federal, state and local policy landscape affecting affordable housing; including, HUD, LIHTC and related problems to protect and advance Dwelling Place\'s mission.
