Samuel James is seeking a Senior/Chief Estimator to lead estimating for the Charleston office, owning bids from first look through to award. You will set pricing strategy, produce takeoffs for large self-perform concrete packages, and collaborate with operations to win work profitably.

The role requires 8+ years of estimating experience, strong leadership, and expertise in takeoffs and software. Charleston relocation is available, with a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities

Qualifications

• 8+ years of estimating experience with a self-perform concrete contractor or large GC.
• Self-perform concrete estimating experience is required.
• Experience pricing large concrete scopes, commercial and industrial.
• Experience leading bids and mentoring estimators.
• Strong takeoff and estimating software proficiency.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Willing to relocate to Charleston, SC; eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

The Role

As Chief Estimator you will lead estimating for the Charleston office, owning bids from first look through to award. You will set pricing strategy, produce and review takeoffs on large self perform concrete scopes, and work alongside operations to decide which work to chase and how to win it profitably.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating function for the Charleston office and own the bid pipeline
• Produce and review detailed quantity takeoffs on large scale concrete packages, including industrial, manufacturing, distribution, tilt-wall, structural and slab-on-grade work
• Build competitive, accurate proposals and preliminary schedules that operations can actually deliver
• Set bid strategy alongside operations leadership, go/no-go decisions, risk review and pricing approach
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors and owners across the local market
• Develop and mentor estimators and project engineers as the office grows
• Hand projects over cleanly to the operations team with a clear scope, budget and strategy
• Review lost and won bids to sharpen pricing and keep the office competitive

Requirements and Qualifications

• 8+ years estimating with a self perform concrete contractor or large scale GC with self perform concrete
• Self perform concrete estimating experience is a must
• Track record pricing large concrete scopes, commercial and industrial
• Experience leading bids and ideally leading or mentoring other estimators
• Strong command of takeoff and estimating software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Willing to relocate to Charleston, SC
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
