Job summary

Bison Recruiting LLC is seeking an Estimator for a full-time, on-site role with a well-established commercial concrete contractor. You will convert plans and specs into reliable cost numbers, coordinate with subs and suppliers to lock in pricing, and support the team that wins projects.

You will work with senior estimators, manage bid deadlines, and prepare bid packages, cost summaries, and proposals for clients while staying current on material pricing and market conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in construction estimation.
• Experience estimating concrete commercial/industrial projects.
• Ability to read structural/architectural drawings.
• Proficiency with takeoff tools and MS Office.
• Strong math and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

A well-established commercial concrete contractor is hiring an Estimator to build accurate, competitive bids for commercial and industrial work. You’ll turn plans and specs into reliable cost numbers, work with subs and suppliers to lock in pricing, and support the team that wins and delivers projects. You’ll work alongside senior estimators and take on increasing bid responsibility.

What You’ll Do

• Study drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define scope and spot requirements that affect price
• Complete quantity takeoffs and price out concrete materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work
• Request, compare, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes, then build them into the estimate
• Identify cost risks and savings opportunities, and recommend ways to protect margin
• Work with project managers, engineers, architects, and owners to resolve scope questions and plan discrepancies
• Assemble bid packages, proposals, and cost summaries for clients
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks and capture the details that affect pricing
• Track material pricing, labor rates, and market conditions, and update estimates to match

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
• Estimating experience in concrete construction, ideally on commercial and industrial projects
• Solid working knowledge of concrete methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
• Experience with estimating and takeoff tools (Bluebeam, RSMeans, ProEst, or similar) and Microsoft Office
• Strong math and analytical skills and a habit of checking your numbers
• Clear communication with internal teams, subs, vendors, and clients
• Ability to manage several bid deadlines at once in a fast-moving environment
