Job description

Tooling Engineer (Palmdale, CA) - 13084

Duration: 6+ Month Contract | Pay rate: $45-60/hr | W2 | US Citizenship required

We are seeking a high-energy and motivated team player to implement and support activities for our tooling and automated systems in support of our integrated assembly line. The ideal candidate has a background in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Coordinate design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with internal and external customers.
  2. Travel regularly to suppliers to review tool status and progress.
  3. Develop and evaluate process improvements.
  4. Assist the Product Development Team with new product designs to ensure manufacturability and validate processes and technology.
  5. Develop manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures for tool and equipment fabrication, supporting our process work instructions and shop planning.
  6. Manage all project phases: design, documentation, fabrication, assembly, and validation.
Core Competencies:
  • Manufacturing Methods: Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, and use of machines, cutting tools, fluids, N/C programming, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in project leadership and coordination of design and fabrication requirements.
  • Computer-Aided Design Tools: Basic proficiency in CAD/CAM systems (e.g., CATIA, MentorGraphics, Unigraphics). Ability to manipulate data sets and create stereolithography files.
  • Engineering Drawings & Specs: Ability to read, interpret engineering drawings and specifications, with a basic understanding of GD&T.
