Position Overview

The company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Estimator to lead its estimating team, ensuring accurate and competitive project cost evaluations. This role is critical in shaping the project pipeline, securing profitable contracts, and driving the financial success of the organization. The Chief Estimator will oversee the estimation process for solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize designs, procurement strategies, and execution plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Estimating Function – Develop and implement best practices for cost estimation, ensuring precision, efficiency, and alignment with company goals.
• Project Costing & Bid Development – Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial-scale solar and battery storage projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
• Risk Assessment & Value Engineering – Identify cost risks and opportunities for optimization, collaborating with engineering and procurement teams to refine project designs and scopes.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination – Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes, validate pricing, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
• Market & Cost Analysis – Stay updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging technologies to improve cost accuracy and strategic decision-making.
• Proposal & Contract Support – Assist in bid presentations, RFP responses, and contract negotiations, ensuring alignment between estimates and contractual obligations.
• Cross-Department Collaboration – Partner with engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to enhance project feasibility, profitability, and execution strategies.
• Process Improvement – Continuously refine estimation tools, databases, and methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship – Build and lead a high-performing estimating team, providing guidance, training, and professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in estimating for renewable energy projects, with a focus on solar PV and battery storage.
• Strong understanding of EPC project workflows, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Expertise in cost modeling, forecasting, and risk analysis for large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of solar PV, battery storage technologies, and balance-of-system components.
• Strong relationships with equipment vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers in the renewable energy industry.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
• Willingness to travel as needed for site visits, client meetings, and industry events.
