The Estimator is responsible for accurate and timely preparation of estimates for jobs to be bid and should have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, engineering, and industry principles. Responsibilities include:

• Bid major utility companies in the Southern California region.
• Determine labor and equipment costs.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
• Request quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
• Review bid documents and assess project risks.
• Understand project logistics and schedule.
• Analyze and compare subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Review estimates with the Project Management Team.
• Prepare estimates at various levels of completion.
• Perform post-bid buyouts.
• Conduct pre-construction meetings with Clients, Owners, Subcontractors, and Engineers.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Experience with underground utilities and utility projects.
• Experience in the public works sector is a plus.
• Proficiency with estimating software; HeavyBid experience is a plus.
• Strong skills with MS Office.
• Knowledge of on-screen take-off software such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift.
• Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
• Familiarity with all aspects of horizontal and infrastructure projects.
• Well-organized, flexible, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines amidst changing demands.
