Job summary

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Chief Engineer for NBPL vessels in San Diego, CA. The role requires extensive engineering leadership, USCG certifications, and DoD security clearance readiness.

The position involves ashore and afloat duties, daily logs, and ensuring vessel readiness under varied conditions. Candidates must relocate within commuting distance and meet background requirements.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years minimum as a Designated Duty Engineer or higher; ten (10) years preferred.
• USCG 4000 HP designation with valid medical certificate required.
• USCG designation for any HP with valid medical certificate preferred.
• US citizenship required and must obtain DoD Secret clearance prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily preventative maintenance and operates propulsion and auxiliary engineering equipment.
• Maintains daily, weekly and monthly logs.
• Oversees the Assistant Engineer in daily duties.
• Ensures vessel readiness for operations at all times.
• Documents system parameters for main and auxiliary equipment; monitors performance.
• Performs corrective maintenance and troubleshoots onboard systems.
• Maintains inventory of engineering department parts and supplies.
