Job summary

Quantum Sky in Reston, VA seeks a Chief Engineer to lead Project 137’s software engineering, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant cloud-native microservices for DoD, IC, and federal civilian agencies. You will establish engineering standards, drive an agentic SDLC, govern open-source components, and guide a highly capable team through accredited deployments and demonstrations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering and leadership, including DoD/IC experience.
• Deep hands-on cloud-native microservice design and delivery.
• Proven DevSecOps pipelines in federal environments.
• Evidence of security, compliance, and accessibility handling.

Responsibilities

• Architect target architecture for Project 137 applications: containerized microservices, event-driven integration, API-first design, and agentic services.
• Lead engineers to deliver solutions from concept to demonstrable, accredited capabilities.
• Own assurance: secure design, continuous scanning, patching, vulnerability backlog, DoD FedRAMP and 508 requirements.
• Build on open source with governance: SBOMs, provenance, license compliance.
• Stand up agentic SDLC and DevSecOps pipeline with AI-assisted design, coding, testing, and security scanning.
• Collaborate with practice leaders to provide reusable services and patterns across the portfolio.
• Recruit and develop engineers fluent in modern software and cleared environments.
• Lead demonstrations and enforce credible technical storytelling for deployments.
