Job summary

This role requires leadership of engineering and electrical staff and adherence to safety and CBAs. The Chief Engineer will read blueprints, develop cost estimates, coordinate with clients and third parties, and drive energy efficiency initiatives while ensuring timely project delivery and high-quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 5+ years supervising building maintenance staff.
• Proficient knowledge of building control systems (analog and digital) for building automation and control.
• HVAC journeyman preferred; 7–10 years in large commercial/government settings.
• CFC Universal Certification; First-Class Maryland Engineer License or DC Third Class License per CBA.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and subcontractors; ensure work meets standards and codes; enforce safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering/electrical teams and assist with day-to-day activities.
• Develop repair practices, oversee preventive maintenance, and align with customer requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints and manuals; write routine reports and correspondence.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance, repairs and new work with clients and teams.
• Proactively suggest energy-efficiency improvements and manage project QA/QC.
