Caterpillar is seeking a Chief Engineer to join the Advanced Technology Group in Clayton, NC. You will drive technology strategy for the Building Construction Products division, leading a team focused on safety, autonomy, AI-enabled solutions, and integrated electrical/mechanical systems.

The role emphasizes cross-functional leadership, regulatory awareness, and collaboration with suppliers and customer-facing teams to deliver long-term, customer-back solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum.
• Experience with onboard software, control systems, autonomous systems.
• Strong communication and leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of customer applications, business models, problems and opportunities across the BCP model lineup.
• Provide technical leadership in the capabilities of the supply base in the technology area, including relationships with suppliers.
• Lead resolution of complex problems requiring multi-departmental or cross-divisional collaboration.
• Develop requirements for next-generation machine electrical and software platforms, remote operation, safety assist and autonomous systems.
