Job description

We are actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Chief Engineer to collaborate closely with our property management team. This role involves implementing and upholding energy management strategies, preventive maintenance programs, quality standards, and operational goals for our esteemed third-party clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain all mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, lighting, and control systems.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure proper operation of systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to tenant service requests, ensuring problems are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of building operations, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
  • Assist in managing building automation systems and energy management initiatives.
  • Lead, train, and coordinate work for a team of building engineers and maintenance technicians.
  • Schedule and oversee work performed by outside contractors and vendors to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with contracts.
  • Support and enforce safety standards and building codes compliance.
  • Participate in budgeting and capital planning related to building systems.
  • Provide on-call support for emergency repairs or issues outside of regular hours as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in administrative or property management roles, preferably in a commercial real estate environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; bachelor's degree in business, real estate, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional designations such as RPA, CPM, or CMCP are a plus.
  • Proficiency with property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI), Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and accounting procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are often necessary for property inspections Skills and competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with tenants, vendors, and staff.
  • Strong organizational abilities, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting procedures, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address and resolve tenant and property issues.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality customer service with a professional, positive attitude.
