Job summary

Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Great Valley/Malvern is seeking a hands-on Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead engineering and maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, and amenities. You will oversee preventive maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and equipment while managing budgets and a small staff.

You will coordinate inspections, manage vendors, and ensure life-safety compliance, with on-call duties to respond to emergencies and uphold Marriott standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in hotel/commercial maintenance with lead experience
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry
• OSHA 30 certification
• Certified Pool Operator preferred or willing to obtain in 90 days
• Proficient reading blueprints and manuals
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 lbs

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering and maintenance for hotel, guest suites, public areas, kitchens, pool, fitness center, and grounds
• Run preventive maintenance for HVAC, PTACs, plumbing, electrical, boilers, water heaters, laundry, and kitchen appliances
• Respond quickly to guest and team requests with minimal disruption
• Maintain pool per health codes, including chemical testing and logs
• Ensure fire, life-safety, OSHA, and local codes; coordinate inspections
• Manage vendors and contractors, bids, and outside work
• Track energy/utility use and implement cost-saving measures
• Manage engineering budget, parts inventory, purchasing
• Hire, train, schedule, supervise small maintenance staff
• Support capital projects and renovations; uphold Marriott standards
• Participate in manager-on-call rotation and after-hours emergencies

We're looking for a hands‑on, dependable Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead the care of our building, systems, and guest suites, keeping our property safe, comfortable, and running smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Lead and oversee all engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel, including guest suites, public areas, kitchens, pool, fitness center, and grounds
• Run the preventive maintenance program for HVAC, PTACs, plumbing, electrical, boilers, water heaters, laundry equipment, and kitchen appliances
• Respond quickly to guest and team requests, troubleshooting and repairing issues with minimal disruption to guests
• Maintain the pool to health code standards, including chemical testing and logs
• Make sure the property meets all fire, life-safety, OSHA, and local code requirements; coordinate inspections and keep records current
• Manage vendors and contractors, obtain bids, and oversee outside work
• Track energy and utility usage and find ways to reduce costs
• Manage the engineering budget, parts inventory, and purchasing
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise a small maintenance staff
• Support capital projects and renovations, and uphold Marriott brand standards
• Take part in a manager‑on‑call rotation and respond to after‑hours emergencies

What You Bring

• 3+ years of hotel, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry/painting
• OSHA 30 certification
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
• Familiarity with work‑order software and basic computer skills
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces, at heights, and outdoors
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies as needed
• Valid driver’s license; high school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certifications a plus
