Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of building equipment and systems.
• Experience supervising a maintenance/engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all hotel maintenance and engineering operations.

Job Summary

Element Chandler Fashion Center is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee all maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel. This position is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical assets, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests and associates, and leading the maintenance team to deliver a well-maintained property that consistently meets Marriott brand standards.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical troubleshooting skills, experience managing building systems, and a commitment to preventative maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee all hotel maintenance and engineering operations.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Lead, train, schedule, and supervise maintenance team members.
• Implement and manage a preventative maintenance program.
• Ensure guestrooms, public areas, meeting space, and back-of-house areas are maintained to brand standards.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency situations as needed.
• Coordinate repairs and projects with vendors and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and hotel policies.
• Maintain maintenance records, work orders, equipment logs, and inspections.
• Monitor property condition and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with budgeting, capital projects, and departmental expense control.
• Work closely with hotel leadership to support guest satisfaction and operational goals.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel maintenance, engineering, facilities, or property maintenance experience required.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of building equipment and systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and on-call responsibilities when required.
• Marriott experience is a plus.
• Trade school education, military experience, certifications, or other transferable technical training are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to respond quickly to maintenance emergencies and operational needs.
