Job summary

LaGuardia Community College in New York is seeking a Chief Diversity Officer to lead diversity and compliance initiatives, oversee EEO/AA programs, and ensure Title IX and related laws are followed.

The role reports to the President and partners with Legal Affairs, HR, Public Safety and external agencies. Responsibilities include training programs, internal/external reporting, and monitoring diversity recruitment/retention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.
• Juris Doctorate with admission to the New York State bar and experience in higher education or employment law preferred.
• Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience in a higher education institution conducting investigations and a record of success in EEO/AA and DEI.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical and oral/written communication skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversees diversity and compliance programs and initiatives.
• Investigates and oversees investigations of complaints under Title VI, VII, IX and related laws.
• Prepares memoranda, reports and training workshops on EEO issues and compliance.
• Oversees reports on EEO/AA efforts and Affirmative Action Plan.
• Collaborates with Legal Affairs, HR, Public Safety to ensure compliance with Title IX and related mandates.
• Monitors recruitment, appointment and retention processes for all faculty and staff.
• Counsels administration, faculty and staff on EEO/AA policies.
• Collaborates with stakeholders and student groups on diversity and inclusion.
