Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Fairless Hills, PA is seeking a Data Center Engineer to serve as the front-line specialist for electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting in mission-critical facilities.

The role focuses on maintaining stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, chillers, cooling systems, and related safety and building automation equipment with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability. Experience in data centers is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
• 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience.
• 3+ years of relevant technical position, or 2+ years of professional or military experience.
• 4+ years of data center engineering experience
• Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues. Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC units, building monitoring systems, etc.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting of facility within internal SLA.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and work with the Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• May assist in the build out of new facilities and assist in projects to increase current facility efficiency; work outside normal hours for maintenance; communicate complex technical information to non-technical audience; coordinate with IT managers and business leaders on projects; ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other basic administrative tools; perform day-to-day tasks.
