Job summary

State Street is seeking a Managing Director, Head of Cryptography to define and govern the firm’s enterprise cryptography, key management, and modernization strategy. You will lead cryptography modernization across cloud, hybrid, and AI-enabled platforms, partnering with Infrastructure, IAM, and Enterprise Architecture to embed cryptography by design.

Qualifications

15+ years of experience in cybersecurity, cryptography, security engineering, or infrastructure security leadership roles.
Demonstrated success leading enterprise cryptography or key management programs within large, highly regulated organizations.
Deep expertise in applied cryptography, PKI, key management, HSM technologies, secrets management, and cloud security architectures.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the firm’s comprehensive cryptography strategy, roadmap, and governance framework.
Lead enterprise initiatives to modernize cryptographic infrastructure and services.
Establish and operate enterprise-class key management services supporting critical systems and data.
Partner with engineering teams to embed cryptographic controls across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
Develop governance mechanisms for cryptographic risk, coverage, and control maturity.
Drive post-quantum readiness, inventory dependencies, risk exposure, and migration roadmaps.
Ensure regulatory, client, and industry alignment for cryptographic controls and audits.
Provide executive leadership and mentorship to security, risk, and architecture teams.
