Job summary

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Vice President & Chief Counsel, Retail Advisory to serve as the senior legal advisor to executive leadership. You will shape legal strategies across managed accounts, financial planning and portfolio management, while guiding growth and risk management.

You will lead a team of attorneys, strengthen governance and compliance, and influence major initiatives and acquisitions with a focus on responsible growth for the Retail Advisory line.

Qualifications

• 10+ years legal experience in investment advisory, wealth management or financial services.
• 15+ years of relevant legal experience preferred.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in MN, MA or NC, or eligibility for in-house counsel.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal support for the Retail Advisory business including managed accounts and portfolio management.
• Advise executive leadership on strategy, initiatives and acquisitions.
• Develop and execute compliant, risk-balanced legal strategies.
• Lead a high-performing team of attorneys delivering business-aligned legal solutions.
